Is America Weak?

The EU is fining Microsoft for being a corporate jerk. This seems unheard of in America. Hiding behind a cardboard box with "freedom" written on it in marker, many companies get away with an insane amount of perverted nonsense in the States. Not perverted in the way you used the word in elementary school, but in the over-saturated, exploited obvious exposition way. America is useless when pitted against the agendas of the uber-wealthy. They seem unable to stand up for common decency. They are bullied by lawyers and mid-level politicians. They look like cowards.

Maybe they're not... maybe they're just indifferent. But they do seem like a weak lot though. They're like the lanky rich kid. Useless in almost every way imaginable except for touting the fact that he comes from wealth. And the other kids, who think they want wealth, beckon or at least tolerate the brat.

OK so simply because their character seems weak doesn't mean the nation is, right? Sure... but they keep getting their asses handed to them in most wars. WW2 they did well, along with half the world. Their solo affairs lack the same success. Vietnam? Gulf War 1? ok they won the first Gulf War but a whole lotta good that did. Did we win that? They're still fighting Iraq over 15 years later... and they're having a hell of a go at it. Trillions in dollars. Thousands of lives and they can't control a country that doesn't even have an army. Shit... what if Iraq is the new Poland? What if the world united against America like they did against Germany in the 1940s. That's kinda scary.

Anyway I get the sense that Americans are like the parent figure realizing that they don't really have an arsenal against their teenage kid, but they still hope to God the kid doesn't catch on.

The world doesn't need to fear America anymore... we should reign in their leash though...
